Outlook contacts phone numbers

When I put in a phone number it is auto fomatted to
include () and - symbols. Normally this would be
desireable, but if I do not have these formatted I can
view the numbers with out opening up the contact. How do
I have outlook STOP this autoformatting?

Russ,

I have the opposite problem....when I put the phone numbers into outlook 2k3
they don't automatically format (xxx) xxx-xxxx

Instead, they simply go in and are displayed as xxxxxxxxxx

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Michael

You can't. Masking of phone numbers is hard coded.

Most likely you didn't set your Dialing location correctly.

What do you mean by "I can view the numbers without opening the contact"?
If you open your Contacts folder, by default you should be able to see all
your contacts' phone numbers. I just looked at every predefined view and
all have at least one phone number field displayed. What view are you
using?
