Outlook Distribution List

I just transitioned from Outlook Express to Outlook Student/Teacher version.
I have several large distribution lists. Some have hundreds if not a
thousand contacts and others have 25-50. The small ones work fine. I am
getting an error message on the large distribution lists and am unable to
send. It is an "internal error" message. Does anyone know why this is
happening.

Hi

Apparently, Outlook can't cope with distribution lists much bigger than 120
(or so I have been led to believe).

Ways round are to nest distribution lists within a distribution list - the
list only contains say 10 items, but each item contains 100 contacts. That
seems to fool the system, you need to put large distribution lists in the bcc
field of the Email you send it out on.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Microsoft states that DLs can contain 4,000-5,000 entries.

Can you post the error's text?

Many people find categories to be more flexible when dealing with larger
numbers of contacts.

Outlook has no such limitation. Most mail servers do.
DL's are a decidedly poor way to group Contacts. Use Categories or separate
Contact subfolders instead.
