Outlook emails "sent" that do not reach recipients

I have found recently that emails sent may not have reached the recipient(s).
I went to "Option" and requested a "delivery" notification. The emails that
for some reason do not get received, I also (naturally) do not get the
receipt notification, sothis is no help.

Can anyone shed any light on this puzzle?
