Outlook error message

I have Outlook 2000 SR-1 Professional, and I'm running on
Windows ME. I have been using both for a couple of
years. Today, for the first time, when I try to start
Outlook I get an error message: "The messaging interface
has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists,
restart Outlook." I can't get Outlook to boot up. Any
suggestions?
