Outlook Hangs when spell checking

I updated my outlook 2000 with the latest patches a couple
of weeks ago. This has cured the problem of it running up
100% cpu in background. Now I have a problem that it
sometimes goes to 100% cpu _and_ hangs when running the
spell checker (or when sending, but assume this is the
same thing as I have it configured to spell check before
sending).

Any ideas how to work around this, you can lose a lot of
time retyping mails.
