Outlook has encountered a problem, needs to close

I am using Outlook 2000 with WinXP Pro. For the past three months I have
gotten an error message, up to 20 times a day, indicating it is experiencing
problems and must close. I have downloaded all updates, uninstalled and
reinstalled and still experience the same problem.

The Event Viewer reports two errors:
1. Faulting application outlook.exe, version 9.0.0.2416, faulting module
msvcrt.dll.version 7.0.2600.2180,fault address 0x00036f07.

2. Faulting application outlook.eve,version 9.0.0.66004.faulting module
ntdll.dll.version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0001142e.

PLEASE HELP!
