Outlook Live/Hotmail on Mac

Jason

I use Outlook Live to provide me access to my email, contacts, tasks,
and calendar wherever I am or no matter what system I am using. In the
absence of an Exchange server, this is what I have found to work best
for me. As a new Mac user - I just got a beautiful new PB G4 - I was
hoping to find some way to access my Outlook Live (basically Hotmail)
calendar and contacts and sync them with my Mac. I am able to access my
mail and folders via Entourage 2004, but have not found any way to get
the calendar and contacts. Any help much appreciated.

You have to access them in a browser like Safari on the web. There is no way
to sync them in Entourage. You can import them as a once-only using my
Export-Import Entourage scripts - see Outlook section - as long as they
export to Outlook-style ,csv files. (Hotmail used to export only contacts,
not calendar, as .csv, although Yahoo exports calendar too. I haven't
checked Outlook Live, but whatever it exports as .csv can be converted and
imported into Entourage using my scripts.) You wouldn't want to do this on a
regular basis though, unless you can somehow exclude the items you already
previously exported, or you'd keep getting duplicates. The scripts do offer
to exclude duplicates, but it really slows them down if you take that
option.

Thanks for the response, but that is exactely my problem. It is
retarded to have to assert this much effort. I want the automatic sync
feature like I have with Outlook on Windows. If .mac had the ability to
sync tasks and edit your calendar online like Hotmail, I would switch
to that service. Hopefully something comes along.
