Outlook Notification

We have just migrated from Novell Groupwise to Outlook
2002. In Groupwise there was a applet that started with
the computer startup and automatically notified me when I
received new mail or appointments. Groupwise did not have
to be started for this to work.

With Outlook, it appears that the whole program has to be
started and minimized in order to get any notifications.
Is there some other way to get 'notified' without having
Outlook open all the time?

There is a commercial product available to implement that option.

Brian.Tillman is the name, smiths-aerospace.com is the domain.

I don't speak for Smiths, and Smiths doesn't speak for me.
