Outlook uses US keyboard layout even though its all set to UK

Hope someone can help me!

My computer is setup for UK english settings and works OK
with all programs. Except Outlook 2000. That is
defaulting to US settings on the keyboard - for example
the £ sign is turning into a #. etc etc

I have checked the settings and it all looks fine - anyone
any ideas?
