Outlook won't accept Word as Email editor

R

Robert Judge

I have been successfully using WORD as my email editor in
Outlook 2000. I just upgraded to
Outlook 2002, and I have lost the option in Outlook 2002
to "Use Microsoft Word to edit email
messages." The option is grey-out. I have tried to
activate by changing the "Compose in
this message formt" between the options of Rich text,
HTML, and plain text, but this had made
no difference. I don't use a signature, as I am aware
that this can cause a problem with
trying to use WORD as the email editor. I have looked at
my WORD options, and everything
appears OK.

I will appreciate advice as to how to activate the option.

Word and Outlook versions must match for Office Automation and use of Word
as the editor in Outlook.

Milly:
Thanks. That must explain my problem, because I use Word
2000, not 2002. Is there any work-around available? I
really like the "use Word as email editor" feature." But
I have no other reason to upgrade to Word 2002 that I know
of. And of course, I'd rather not spend the money to
upgrade if I don't have to.

No, there is no workaround unless you purchase a Works Suite package that
contains Word 2002.

Milly:
Thanks again. I don't need the Word editor in all of my
email messages, just some of them. Could I re-install
Outlook 2000 while keeping Outlook 2002? That way, if I
want to using Word on a message, I'll send it from Outlook
2000, while using Outlook 2002 for other tasks. Or, would
trying to re-install Outlook 2000 with Outlook 2002 cause
too much of a problem?

You can only have one version of Outlook installed in an OS partition, so
you need to make a final choice. Outlook 2003 or ability to use Word as the
editor on the occasional mail.
