We have an Exchange 2003 server with Outlook 2003 clients. When a recipient
on the domain opens an e-mail, the From: field at the top only displays the
sender's SMTP-address (their real e-mail address) eg.
"(e-mail address removed)".
On other similar setups, I've seen that at least the display/friendly name
is shown followed by the SMTP-address in parantheses, eg. "Some
One([email protected])".

The display name is correctly shown in the e-mail headers in the inbox view
before you double-click to open the e-mail. It's just in the FROM: field at
the top when you have opened an e-mail that the display name is missing. All
addresses/names from GAL is displayed properly.

This is a consistent behaviour of all contacts regardless of multiple
correspondence between the recepient and sender and it doesn't seem to matter
where the mail is coming from (this applies only to external contacts. GAL
display names are correct). Tried on OL2000 & OL2003 on multiple computers.
Any thoughts?
