With Outlook open, Restore active desktop came up, and
when I maximized the Outlook program I had lost all my
emails, address book and anything else associated with
the email program.

Is there any way to recover the lost emails, addresses,
etc.?

Is there a virus that is affecting my computer and the
Outlook?

Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Search your hard drive for a file whose type is .pst. You may need to
enable showing hidden files and folders. If you find a PST file, use
Outlook's File>Open>Personal Folders File (or Outlook Data File, depending
on your version) to open it.
