Can anyone tell me why, after ticking the box
in 'Accounts' to remember my password I still have to
enter it every time I want to check my e-mail?

It is bugging the hell out of me!!

Hi Robert!

Tried the suggested KBs but no luck. Any other ideas?

I'm wondering if it's linked to a recently installed Windows XP patch;
I'm beta testing XP SP2.

And it's bugging the hell out of me and several other users too!

Hi Norman,
About the only that I would do is:

Delete and recreate the account
Change the POP3 password
Have the ISP recreate the Account
Does it happen every time you poll the POP3 mailbox, could your ISP be the
issue, are their mail servers slow, have you other POP3 accounts with
another ISP that you can test against.

I am on the SP2 beta but I haven't tried a POP3 account with it yet (just
Exchange).

Hi Robert!

Thanks for those suggestions. I'll give them a go.

I get the message every time I poll the account, both "manually" and
automatically. Often twice in quick succession but I think that's
because manual polling is not re-starting the automatic frequency. One
nastiness is that the password request takes priority over all other
activities.

I've reported it as a possible SP 2 Beta problem.

Just have to keep blunt objects from within reach at present :(
