Outlook2003 new mail alert and security

Just installed Outlook 2003 instead og OutlookXP. It looks neat, but...

I was happy that OutlookXP could open all mail as plain text. Does 2003 new
mail alert preview the new incomming mail ordinary? That is does it retrieve
html pages and in case you get a virus, does it run this automatically?
