outside sales rep- ? on best way to route, track, organize

I am a traveling sales rep for a home decor/gift line soliciting to all of
southern CA gift stores, florists, jewelers, etc. I have been trying to
ROUTE, SET UP APPTS, DOCUMENT AND UPDATE HOME COMPUTER ACCOUNTS, TRACK,
CALENDAR RESCHEDULES/REMINDERS, UPKEEP DATABASE OF ACCOUNT INFO, PROSPECT,
AND ORGANIZE ALL INFO AND UTILIZE FOR CUSTOMER AS WELL AS HEAD-COMPANY IN NJ.
I have NOT been succesful and been playing around on this site and dont know
which ones are best for my situation-- If anyone has the time, patience and
kind hearted soul to help with any recommendations- truly appreciate it.

Its always better to have the head comany support you in that you would have
remote access to their program to handle all this information. However,
failin g that linkage, I used a combination of a Palm computer with Beyond
Contacts and a laptop with Microsoft Office. This combination allowed me to
collect and detail alot of information and dump it as needed to Outlook.
The tools like Excel and Access help analyze and report on the information.
