oversized email headers when printing

Pete

another dumb question: i use entourage 2004, osx 10.4.5, mac
powerbookg4 1.33mhz chip, 60GB HD, 512 MB Ram.

when i print email messages from entourage, the header is in obscenely
large type - like 16 points. i usually view my messages in 14 point
type so as not to strain the eyes, but the print option is set to 9
point type for messages. any idea what i can do to bring the headers
down to the same size as the text? in eudora this was not a problem.
thanks - peter

The size of the headers is controlled by the size set for the HTML font in
Entourage | Preferences | Fonts. (That setting also controls some other
things that can get printed, I think maybe Tasks in Task List format but not
Memo format, etc. Trickiness abounds).

I decided that wasting paper on the headers was worth not going blind on
every HTML message I received, but that's basically the choice you have to
make, short of a script solution to change the prefs around as appropriate
(which I don't think exists and wouldn't seem worth the trouble, imo).

thanks but that's not it.
the print fonts are times new roman 12 and the body of the message
prints that way. it's only the header for the messages that prints in
14 or 18 poijnt type (whic is the display size for the screen). any
other ideas? thanks

Hi Pete,

Despite the illogic and inaccuracy of the UI, the font and size set for
screen display of HTML messages *does* control the look and size of the
headers in printed messages.

At least it does on my machine. Did you test it? Change the HTML setting
to 9pt or 10pt and see if the headers shrink. Works here, for sure. Seems
like an *awfully* big coincidence if that isn't it. I mean, I just changed
it to a script font, and suddenly the headers printed (to pdf) in that
script font.

You'll notice that Daiya did _not_ say "Print" font (you're right - that
controls the body test size). She said "HTML" font. So change that
preference (Preferences/Font/HTML messages).
