Page X of Y Bug

Dave

Thankyou to Lene and Suzanne, for your help, however the bug is still
around.
Document looks fine on screen, but print is not correct.

First, I am running XP 2003 Pro (SP2) with the usual updates coming in
continuously.
Next I have previously gone looking at ALL print and non print characters, I
believe my doc is clean of the usual faults.
Next, yes I have put in a lot of bookmarks, mainly for hylinks, but also for
PAGEREF which I used for nil gain effect.
..
Next, On Screen ALL looks 100 percent OK. I have 4 sections, the first is a
cover page only with no hdrs or footer. The next section is the TOC with
eight pages of ref and page 8 an even page is blank except for an END OF
SECTION, Start new sect next Page, an odd page.

Then in section 3 , the main section, which starts on the odd page, the
footer numbering is CORRECT for the "X" value, but not for the "Y" value.
Here I get Page 1 of 1, Page 2 of 2, etc, WHEN PRINTED. Please excuse the
use of uppercase, in no way do I intend any offence, only most of us just
scan things like this often with preconceived ideas, and miss the data.

Section 4, the ref section restarts on page 1 with "X" ok and "Y" like
section 2 & 3, Page 1 of 1, 2 of 2, etc.

My memory could be better, but over the last 2 weeks, I have tried many
things, including a re install of Office, Office repair, swapping views,
manually updating fields, etc.

Maybe I should just swear at it and Microsoft, but this belies the point,
there must be thousands of users out there making multipage, multisection
docs, with double sided printing, all without trouble of this nature, every
day of the week, if not then Microsoft should sell out and sell oranges at
the local market. (Please excuse my rant)
All assistance will be greatly accepted and studied,
Dave
