Partially clearing recent address list

I have a user who has some incorrect addresses in his
recently used address list which he keeps on selected when
he attempts to send an email. He would like to get rid of
these rogue addresses. As I see it there are two options:
1. To get all of the recent used addresses out of the list,
remove the rogue addresses, import them into the address
book and then clear the recent address list or
2. To simply edit the recent address list.
I can't find a way of doing either. Any suggestions?
