PASSWORD PROBLEM

I can send e-maisl ok but cannot receive them due to password problem:
when I check 'Send & Receive' located on the top bar, a small box pops
up that says 'Enter password', after I enter my password I always get
a login failed message

I have contacted my ISP but they can only give me a default password
which does not work, they cannot give me an alternative. Does anyone
know how to deal with this problem?

Send & Receive problems can be complex to solve, but generally these
solutions apply:

If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

Open Keychain Access application in Applications/Utilities folder and delete
the entry for that account. Run Keychain First Aid. It's in the Keychain
menu under Keychain Access.

Go to Entourage, select 'accounts' from the Tools menu, choose the account
that was giving you trouble and delete that account. You should now be able
to enter the correct information. Type carefully. If you paste don't include
spaces.

Thanks for the info. I re-entered my details (it is a POP
configuration), and also ran Keychain First Aid and it indicated that
the password was not acceptable, the passowrd it just consists of
numbers and the ISP will not give me an alternative: could this be the
problem? I forgot to mention that I'm using Entourage 10.1.6

You should be able to log into your account via a web access. You should be
able to change your password there.

Did you change the original password issued by your ISP to the one with all
numbers? They should have issued instructions on what their requirements
were for creating passwords. Don't accept that they will not give you an
alternative. This happens all the time where users forget a password. They
issue a new temp password so you can access your account and set your own
password.
