Pasting Links, Preserving Formatting

I wisht to create a summary worksheet that combines data from three worksheets in the same workbook. Can very simply paste a link back to the cells I want, which is working fine. However, some of the cells have specific font/shading formatting that I would like to preseve in the summary sheet. Is there a way that a link can be set to retain the original cell's formatting?

My other option was to give every entry a marker and use conditional formatting but you only get three conditions and I will potentially have a need for more than that.

Any pointers, gratefully received.

You can't link formatting.

When you originally create the link, do a two part creation. Copy the
cell(s) you want to link to, select the destination cell(s), then do a
pastespecial / format, and then immediately do another pastespecial, but
this time click the button "Paste link"
