Hi

I have just bought an iMac G5 with Office for Mac and am using Entourage.

2 things I'm trying to sort out..

1) I'd like to add my Entourage Address book to my back up schedule (as
opposed to the Apple address book) - is this possible and if so, where is
it?

2) Where does Entourage store messages from newsgroups such as this one? Is
the file hidden somewhere?

Thanks in advance

Answer to both of these is 'in the database'.

In your local documents folder is a 'Microsoft User Data' folder (commonly
known as the MUD folder)

In there, amongst a lot of other stuff is a folder called 'Office 2004
Identities' (or something similar, depending on which version you are
running). In _that_ folder is a folder named after each of your identities,
and in there you should find files called Database, Mailing Lists, Rules &
Signatures. The database file contains all the data you see in entourage,
the mail, the contacts, the calendar events etc.

Most people back up the whole MUD folder just to be sure.

This is one of the few (*very* few) cases where it makes sense for an
application to create its own directory and files inside the user's
Documents folder. As long as you back up your Documents folder, you're
backing up all your Entourage info.

Ok, Thanks I have found this.

How do you delete news messages then so the Entourage database doesn't
become too large?

Thanks again

In addition to my previous comment, my database is now 145 Mb and I've only
put in a few addresses, I am a little bit confused as I would like to back
up to iDisk but it seems a huge file size?

Thanks in advance

In Entourage, Control-click the news server icon whose cache you wish to
delete, and select "Empty Cache" from the contextual menu.

Congratulations on getting the new iMac G5. I just got one this week too,
though I'm a lifelong Mac user.
