PDF attachments to e-mails

If a .PDF document is attached to an e-mail using Outlook/exchange
server and sent to an internal distribution list consisting of n
recipients, if the recipients do not save the attachments to their
local drive how many copies of the .PDF document will there be? No,
this is not a riddle - I have had two different answers to this
question.

How does Outlook/Exchange handle a .PDF attachment when it is sent
outside the network via the internet?
