Persistent Read Receipts

Hello

We are running Exchange 5.5 sp4 and the clients are all Outlook 2000 sp1.

One user is receiving read receipts from another user from an email sent
several weeks ago. The sent item is no longer in the recipients mailbox
however these read receipts are delivered several times a day.

I have recreated the outlook profiles for both users and the problem
continues - does anyone have any idea what may be going on?
