Personal Address Book

My boss inadvertently deleted his personal address book while cleaning up
some files in his My Documents folder. When he checked for it in the
Recycle bin, it was already gone.

I went to Tools|Services and it showed that it was there, but he couldn't
access it for some reason. So we tried to "Add" it again and it said it
couldn't add it because it was already there. So, I clicked "Remove"
thinking I'll just start over. However, now when I click "Add" there is NOT
an option for "Personal Address Book." How do I get it back?

TIA

We have no clue.

1. You don't mention what version of Outlook.
2. Outlook has not used a Personal Address Book for several iterations.

It is Outlook 2000.

I can't imagine why "Personal Address Book" is no longer an option in Add
Services. Do we need to do a installation|repair?

You don't need a Personal Address Book at all. Address Information is kept
in the Contacts folder and the Outlook Address Book service presents that
folder as the address book. PAB files only exist to provide backward
compatibilty with the long-dead Microsoft Mail.

In OL2000 and prior, I thought you needed to use a PAB if you wanted
distribution lists? It's been a long time since I've used those versions,
but I seem to recall this. I was very happy when OL2002 was released!

Even Outlook 2000 supported DL's in the Contacts Folder. It was only prior
to 2000 that you'd need a PAB for DL's.
