phantom Appointment Item...??

Has anyone seen this behaviour before?

I'm trapping an Item_Write() event for a recurring AppointmentItem.
Within this event I'm walking through the Items from the relevan
Calendar folder. These Items generally seem to include th
modifications contained in the Item_Write. But one instance of th
recurring Item appears twice in the Items collection, with as far as
can tell, all the Item values identical. Anyone seen anything lik
that before?
