photo gallery - image transition problems

Hi,
I am experiencing problems in the photo gallery now that I have published my
site. Not all images are exactly the same size, and the image sizes change
before the images do when you click on the thumbnails. Being a dial-up user,
this "lag" is exaggerated and my images look terrible. As a photographer,
this is unacceptable. What am I doing wrong? Things looked fine in PREVIEW.
I'm brand new to FP 2003. If you would like to look at my site (since I
tend not to explain things well) a good example is on
http://www.focalpointimaging.com/Portrait Page.htm.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Optimize your image filesizes, try to crop them to be all the same size. etc.

Thank you for such a quick response!

I can reduce and crop most of the images, but it can't be done on landscape
vs. portrait images--and they REALLY distort! Is this "transition morphing"
common with FP photo gallery? Would I be better off doing a web gallery in
Photoshop and importing it to FP?

Thanks again.

I am really not seeing any issues with your images.

Make sure that you have disable IE Auto resizing of images:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/using/howto/customizing/autoresize.mspx

Also remove all spaces (%20) from all file and folder names.

Also add the following to the head section of your gallery pages in HTML/Code View:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="imagetoolbar" CONTENT="no">

In the long run you will be better going with something like JAlbum for
photogallerys. JAlbum is free, highly customizable and easily Imported and
incorporated into FP web/sites. Why? Because you will at some point run into
problems with FP's gallery...amount of images, file sizes, dunno exactly
what causes problems as the "wall" I run into seems to change. And you will
discover you cannot customize FP galleries very much.

hth.
