picture frame placeholder in master page

Hi all,

i'm creating a master page for a publication (actually a CD label). The
users of my template are able to add an image of their choice to a page based
on the master page. This image must be a particular size and I want to add a
frame to the master sheet to contain the image in order to fix the size so
that the users can put an image in the preset frame without it affecting the
rest of the page.

At the moment, i'm trying to add an emtpy frame to the master page, but this
doesn't seem to help because when you switch back to page view (which the
'users' will be using) you can't add an image to the frame - you can only do
this apparently in the Master Page.....

Is there any way of putting in a placeholder for an image on the Master Page
so that someone else can add an image into the placeholder on the normal page
view?

You can put the empty frame on the publication page, draw a box around the
entire publication, no fill, no line, send it to the back, group all objects
together, this may prevent users moving the frame. You can insert an image
without ungrouping, right-click the frame, click change picture.

Not all pictures will adhere to the picture frame size, if the frame is
elongated, portrait images will normally take up the entire frame, however if
you decide to insert a landscaped picture in the same frame, the frame will
change to accommodate the new orientation.
