In general it should work correctly but installed Word add-ins modify the
normal.dot template which could cause the ActiveX effect when using Word as
an e-mail editor. If you don't have another HTML editor installed you can
create your own htm-file for the signature in Notepad as well.
This should work;
<html>
<body>
Insert a greeting,<br>
Your name<br>
<br>(empty rule)
Some more stuff you want to write<br>
<b>Maybe something bold?</b><br>
<a href="
http://www.yourwebsite.com">clickable link</a><br>
<img src="subfolder of Signatures/yourlogo.jpg"><br>
<br>
<i>or retrieve your logo from your website</i><br>
<img src="
http://www.yourwebsite.com/pictures/yourlogo.jpg>
</body>
</html>

Thanks but the idea is to have a logo in the signature. I cannot do this
when
i edit it in text only.

What is in your signature? When you Advanced Editor (default HTML editor)
is
Word and you insert some Word only functionality the ActiveX error indeed
can occur. Try recreating your signature with text only.
