Using MS Outlook 2003 (11.8118.8132) SP2/MSExchange (don't know
version)/Windows XP 5.1.2600 SP2 Build 2600
Hi Everyone,
Let me explain our set up here and maybe someone out there can tell me
why we're seeing what we're seeing.
We have a set up at work where a certain user is the Owner of a shared
Calendar. In that calendar we make appointments from certain emails
on the date that they are received and then we upload the email
attachments to the appointments. This calendar is on MSExchange, not
the user's local PC. In the subject field of the appointment there is
a "Task Number" which is a unique long number which could be used to
"Find" that appointment. This question is referring to a calendar
type view, not a table view of the calendar.
Now here's the strange part. If a user that is designated as an
"Owner" attempts to find appointments using the Find function, Outlook
finds all the relevant appointments. If a user that has a "Custom"
designation attempts to Find appointments, none are found. If the
Custom user switches to a tabular view of the Calendar, Find now
works.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
The problem with giving full Owner status to all the various users of
this calendar is that it comes with "Delete" functions. When we
choose "None" for deletes the user status is changed to "Custom" and
Find will only work if we switch to a tabular view of the Calendar or
use Advanced Find.
We want finding stuff on the Calendar to be simple for the users, and
at the same time, we want to protect them from deleting stuff that
should not be deleted.
Thanks, Hilfy
