2 Questions -
How can I preserve the formating in my Pivot table? I
know how to change the formating, but once I move the
fields around or refresh the data, the formating reverts
to the default. I clicked (and unclicked) the PRESERVE
FORMATING button on the Table Options menu window, but it
still reverts to the bad formatting.

Second, how can I have the data lables just read the
column headings instead of SUM OF... or COUNT OF... It's
not as big a deal, but it is pretty annoying to have the
extra label wording out there when it is unneccessary or
potenitally confusing.

If you use Excel 2000 it is known

to remove the Sum of etc go to the field settings Right click somewhere in
the pivot
There you can change it in the name box
