Planned use for Airliners

Eddie Ramirez

Hi!

I want to use Project to plan out the retrofit of aircraft.

I need to schedule resources and material for this purpose
before hand as well as schedule the retrofit and the completion
of this task. At the end it will need to issue reports on how effective
we were in completing the task.

This will involve several different departments:
Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Repair and Installation Teams.
This will be all coordinated from one location in the US but i will have to
communicate/share this information with 3-4 other locations worldwide.

Will this application help with this task or is there another MS program
that can
handle this better??

Thanks!

Project should be able to handle it. There is no other Microsoft application
which would be better suited.

Project will work, but Project Server will do even better for team
collaboration and communication.

Does that mean that on Project 2003 you cannot share the info with
a group of people in other cities?

You can share info using P2K3. It was done for years before Project Server
was introduced. But Project Server makes it much easier to share much more
information, and to do it in near-real time. It also goes beyond Project,
with Web interfaces plus integrated management of documents, issues, risks,
status reports, workable enterprise resource management, etc. If you want
to, you can even give your customers a Web dashboard view so they can see
what's going on.

If you want to contact me offline at my e-mail below, I'll send you some
info and some links to show you what you can do with Project Server. It's
pretty darn cool, and it's a great application for managing geographically
diverse teams.
