Playing avi movies in powerpoint 2002 SP3

When I try to insert an avi file into a presentation I get the following
error - "Can not display this type of sound or movie". Can anyone help? (I
can view it in Media Player on the same machine.)

Found the answer :-

Check the tip near the bottom of the page at
http://www.powerpointbackgrounds.com/powerpointtips.htm (Just rename the AVI
with an MPEG extension instead.)
