Please DON'T name Office 12, Office Vista. Call it Office 2006

S

Sam Lonsdale

As an IT Support Technician, it causes untold confusion with users when
Windows and Office have the same name. Whilst we know the difference, they
are always getting them mixed up.

PLEASE don't repeat the mistake made with Office 2000 & XP. Call Office 12
Office 2006 NOT Office Vista

Thank you
Sam Lonsdale

As an IT Support Technician, you surely know that this is a public,
non-moderated newsgroup, where (mostly) non-Microsoft people assist
non-Microsoft people?

Shooting missiles at Microsoft senior management in this forum is rather
like shooting arrows at Haley's Comet.

This has been the topic of conversations in a newsgroup for MVPs. We are
pleading the same thing for the same reason. But at least in our case, we
know that there are a few 'Softies who have been known to stop by.

Personallly...I think the year should be left out of any name - I know this
is some marketing dept's decision to make people think they need to upgrade
but it's much easier for people to remember Office 10, 11, 12, 13 whatever.

KISS

Maybe they could copy Intel and name it Office Hexium, but then they'd be in
trouble with the Christian Right.

Awwwwwwwww, you said hex! Now you've gone and done it. I'm leaving before
all those right-wingers come in here and start getting the stakes ready.
