Please help? Cannot open a certain distribution list in contacts folder

User keeps getting error message: "Can't open this item. Out of memory or
system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again."

I (as the system administrator) copied this distribution list to a public
folder and got the same message. I have nothing else opened on my laptop
but outlook and still got this message. We are using Outlook 2000

Anyone have any suggestions? (rebooting didn't help either)
