Hi there. Woke up this morning and opened entourage like I always do and
suddenly it was blank -- my rules were there, but my address book and
messages were blank, and it was asking me to input all my info like the
first time I used it, with a welcome message from microsoft.

I went into the main identity folder and found (luckily) that I had rebuilt
the database on 9/16, so I renamed that old database and database cache
"database" and "database cache." When I do that it opens as if it's last
week, and I have all my contacts and messages up till 9/16, but predictably
I have very important messages from the last week that I need. Is there any
way to get them back???????? Where is the database/database cache that
existed until I opened it this morning? Any idea why it might have
disappeared?

And what file is it I need to copy to keep this from happening in the
future?????

Thanks.

I forgot to add that the first thing I tried to do was switch identities,
but my identity was nowhere to be found.

If the Microsoft User Data folder is not located in your Documents folder,
Entourage will open a new blank identity. Did you perhaps move your folder?

When you renamed your files they probably replaced the original files and
they no longer exist.

For help, the best place to start is with the most popular questions page:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/top_faqs.html>

This will cover a lot of basic info. The Get Started Page should help with
basic setup.
