Please, please help with this - Copy and Paste Question

Here's the scenario:

I have a text box that has 2 lines of information.

The first line has a font color of red
The second line has a font color of black

At the end of the first line is a paragraph return. Here's an example

Jane Doe (this is red font)
Newest Member (this is black font)

OK, I want to copy Sally Sue onto the line witih Jane Doe, so I highlight
the name Jane Doe and choose paste.

The problem is, when Sally Sue is included it becomes BLACK (the font color
of the second row) and doesn't stay RED (the font color of the previous item).

How can I tell the system NOT to change the color to what's on the NEXT
row!! That seems so obvious that I wanted it to be the color of what I was
pasting into.

Am I missing something?

No.

Are you saying that Publisher requires that I paste special to keep the
color of the row I'm pasting on?

I didn't have these problems in the earlier version, why is this now
happening in this version?

I'm not especially fond of the Paste Special thing either but it works.
Sometimes we have to learn to adapt to new features. (I think Office 12 may
be the ultimate test for me tho.)

What you neglect to say is what the font colour of Sally Sue is. This is
the font colour that Publisher will use for Sally Sue, unless you tell it to
paste as Plain Text (either using the Smart Tag, or by going to Paste
Special), or "Use Destination Styles" (using the Smart Tag in recent
versions of Publisher).

Hi Ed

OK. Is that something I can tell Publisher to universally do, or is it
something that I have to do with each paste?

It doesn't seem to matter what color Sally Sue is. If she was originally
purple, when I pasted it onto the line it would still become black like the
next line.
