Please support Error 17099

Georg Otto Geduld

On some of my accounts the following Error message pops up.
I recently changed form OS 9 to OS 10 and I tried to import the Entourage
accounts. As I understood it did not work in all kinds.

Never the less some of the accounts work perfect, some show up with this
massage if I try to send an e-mail.

RCPT TO:<[email protected]> Relaying not allowed - please use SMTP AUTH
Error-17099

What is the reason? What can I do to prevent this problem?

Thank you in advance
George

Hello
Thank you for the help
I tried this already - and it leads again to a failure.

"authentification failure - Entourage do not support any of the available
methods"
Error 17897
=> my translation into English

In the past I never used this selection - and it worked properly.
Regards

George

Hello,

I work with an iMac - always same location.
Like I just found out, every accounts from a single provider do not work.
Since I have the new computer I changed the provider to a different one.
May it be possible that the DNS entry will prevent the access?
In general I use two different provider for e-mail. The DSL account is from
a third one.

Regards
George

In the account setting, click on the button below the entry box for the
'SMTP server' that is labelled 'click here for advanced sending options'

Check the box to say 'SMTP server requires authentication', and the radio
button for 'use same settings as receiving mail server'. That will work with
most setups. If it doesn't solve the problem, reply back and we'll go into a
little more detail.

Are you working on a powerbook trying to connect from different locations?
Does it work in some locations and no tin others?
