POP3 account emails disappearing when down loading.

Lately, a couple of times a week, I have noticed emails that show up
in my mailbox for my POP3 email account that never download to
Entourage. They seem to be lost in cyberspace. They are no longer
anywhere in my intergate mail box, nor do they show up anywhere in
Entourage. At the same time, I have been receiving emails in
Entourage where there is no sender email address. I have also
received emails marked as "no message" that are entirely blank. Once,
all the emails in my intergate box were somehow combined into one
email when they arrived in my Entourage In Box. It was very difficult
to read. Other times I am receiveing emails in gibberish as if they
were unable to be translated. These are not SPAM messages, but
messages from people I know....can anyone shed some light on this?

Boy, what a mess you have. I see several problems.

1. Text is gibberish (this might cover your blank mgs too)...solution: In
addition to trashing the com.microsoft.browserfont.cache, you can also try
trashing the tasmanbrowser.cache, which will be found in your
~/Library/Caches.

2. Mail getting lost....solution: look for a Mailing List Manager (MLM) rule
that has been accidentally created that is moving your mail to the wrong
folder. One other option is you have a folder set for 'flagged only'. You
can also use a Custom Mail View like "Received Since Launch" to look for all
mail to be sure it's there.

3. All mails in one...that's a new one for the history books.

4. No Sender address...Look at the source under View in the Menu bar to see
who sent the email.

I suggest that you apply the latest Apple combo updater again. It will clear
out caches and overwrite some files that might have become corrupted.
Several users have reported this fixed some odd problems they were having
with Entourage. Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re
applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

Let me know if you continue to have problems.

Try rebuilding the database.

In Entourage 2004, you must launch the Microsoft Database Utility.
1. Launch Entourage, holding down the ³Option² key. Or, launch the
Database Utility separately; it is located in HD/Applications/Microsoft
Office 2004/Office/.
2. If you are prompted, allow the Database Utility to quit open Office
applications.
3. Once the Database Utility is open, select your identity from the list at
the top.
4. Click the ³Rebuild Database² button, and click ³Continue.²

In Entourage X, first go to Entourage > Turn Off Office Notifications. Now,
quit Entourage, and then restart Entourage holding down the Option key.
When the Rebuild dialog box comes up, choose to do a Typical Rebuild. If
that does not fix the problem, repeat the procedure, instead opting to do
the Advanced Rebuild.

In Entourage 2001, quit Entourage, and then restart Entourage holding down
the Option key. When the Rebuild dialog box comes up, choose to do a
Typical Rebuild. If that does not fix the problem, repeat the procedure,
instead opting to do the Advanced Rebuild.

Cheers and Welcome to Mac! I have a few tips and links posted to help new
users here:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/new2mac/index.html>

Let's be sure you are quitting correctly. Clicking on the red button does
not quit the application.

Option to quit an application:

$B"#(BChoose Quit from the application menu. The application menu is located to
the right of the Apple menu and has the same name as the application.

$B"#(BPress the application$B!G(Bs icon in the Dock and choose Quit from the pop-up
menu.

$B"#(BPress Command-Q.

To shut down your computer:

Choose Apple menu > Shut Down.

You can also click Shut Down in the login window, if it$B!G(Bs available.

The computer is completely shut down when there is a black screen, no active
power light, and no fan or drive noise.

Incorrectly doing either of these two features can cause applications to
loose data.
Btw, I m new to mac world, try to switch from windows. What I found now are
the item including the account under today in preferences.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Can you explain this?

Is Entourage opening? Do you only see the welcome message?

If you see the folders you have setup, but no emails, check under View in
the Menu bar and see if you have unread only or flagged only selected.

See the 5 basics things every Entourage users should know:

Remember the more details you provide the easier it will be for us to help
you.
