Popup Menus with multiple command buttons

How can we create a CommandBarPopup menu on a Toolbar so that the menu
contains 4 CommandBarButtons two in each row? I can create popup menu with
command buttons in one column 4 rows. But I want to create 4 buttons in two
columns and two rows as shown below. This is similar to Equation Editor tool
bar in MS Word.

Another example for my following question would be the "Highlight" or "Font
Color" dropdown menus in MS Word where popup menu contains different buttons
in horizontal and vertical rows -- one each for a different color. How can we
create such popup menus in MS Word? Does anyone know any good articles on
such examples? -Bob
