possible to make a public folder expose different items to different user groups?

I'm building a task-management system in which employees should see only
their own tasks and projects, but managers should be able to see anything.
Can I still use a public folder and somehow limit the items in that folder
that each user can see? Would this require a VBA customization or add-in?
