Power Point

Intermitten problem.
Power point will freeze (not responding)
For no apparent reason, causing user to end program and
loose unsaved data.

Common fix, remove and reinstall. If still broke, remove,
then reinstall into a new directory other than the default.

Good luck.

How can you recommend that, given so little information?

Thats my point. If they are not technical or detail
enough to type a decent posting then give a solution that
is simple - most people know how to uninstall and
reinstall...let him try and if he comes back with more
info we can take it from there. Do people not realize we
need all the info we can get to help with problems like
this? What OS? What version of Office? Steps to
duplicate the problem, etc!

Its like Windows operating systems: sometimes you can try
to troubleshoot a system freezing/crashing/etc for hours.
If there is no quick fix available, just reload the OS and
save the time troubleshooting.

Anyhow, thats my logic...maybe too rough for some, but
thats life. You have to agree that the chances of the
problem being resolved from removing/reinstalling will
probably work right? Too many people with problems for me
to post back to someone "hey, can you give me a little
more information". Time to move on...take it easy.

No, I don't agree. In fact, I don't think the cause of his trouble has
anything to do with Ppt at all. But offering solutions before knowing the
problem and the users' situation is irresponsible, IMO.

When I don't have time to offer an appropriate suggestion, I leave the
message alone.
