Powerpoint 2000 crashes during presentations

Hello,

I have a problem on a regular basis - my presentations
crash during a slideshow and I have to reboot my laptop
to recover. I am making a presentation to a couple of
hundred people in 2 weeks and want to avoid this problem.

Can anyone help?

Note: it does not matter if it a simple presentation of
graphics rich. Also, my laptop is a Compaq presario P3
and is 20 months old.

cheers and thanks,
John.

John,

When your presentation crashes....do it give a "general protection
fault"....with some kind of cryptic error message?

Or does the machine just lock up...and no mouse or keyboard presses has any
effect?

What filesize is your presentation?

How much memory and disk space do you have?

Do you have up to date graphics card drivers for your compaq?

Cheers

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply - the screen just blanks out
and nothing works - always have to reboot. My system is a
P3 933mzh with 256mb RAM. I have an ATI mobility radeon
graphics card with 8mb of RAM. I remember updating the
driver about 6 months ago. The file size that crashed
today was just under 1mb.

Hope this helps.

cheers,
John.

First, check to make certain you have the latest video driver, then make
certain you have the latest version of DirectX for your OS. If this doesn't
do the trick, try turning video acceleration down a notch at a time.
