PowerPoint 2003 cannot open *.pps files

I have office 2000 installed on my computer. also I have installed power
point 2003.

when I try to open a *.pps file the system comes back and tells me I tannot
open the file.

So I installed the powerpoint viewer and it worked out just fine.

I then reinstalled the powerpoint 2003 and still get teh cannot open the file

any ideas.

Go to the Help menu in PowerPoint 2003, and choose Check for Updates.
Follow the instructions to install Service Pack 1. This should solve your
problem.

Can you open PowerPoint 2003 and then use the File > Open menu to open the file?

Was the presentation created in PowerPoint 2000 or 2003? Do you have Office
2003 Service Pack 1 installed? If not, go to Help > Check for Updates and
follow the links to apply updates.
