Powerpoint 2003 running very slow

I have office 2003 on my XP systm, and it runs very slow. For example, I type
something and it takes 10 seconds for it to appear on the screen. Does anyone
know what the problem could be?

Does this happen in any other applications? For instance, if you open
Notepad (Start/Programs/Accessories/Notepad), do you get a typing delay?
