powerpoint automation and starting movies

I have a movie embedded in a slide that is set to start on a user click.
Does anybody know how I can start the movie programmatically using the
automation interfaces while the slide show is running. There seems to be a
way for sounds by using the
ActivePresentation.Slides().Shapes().AnimationSettings.SoundEffect.Play()
functionality, is there some equivalent for movies as well?

It would be nice if it could be from PowerPoint 2000 onwards. Is the code
very different for different versions of PowerPoint?
