I want to jump from descriptive text of a system, to specific pictures of
individual parts from the Hot text of the part names. I assume you would do
this by hyperlinking to another slide. Is there a way to force the
presentation to return to the launching slide or must there be a Nav button
hard coded to return to the specific place. There might be different slides
that come to that location so would there need to be specific buttons to
each or can it dynamically link back to the originating location.

If you "jump" to a specific slide, you either need to insert an Action
Button (Last Slide Viewed) to return or you can always type the slide number
and press ENTER to return. You can also insert action buttons (or use any
object for that matter), that you can set an "Action Setting" to hyperlink
from any slide to any other slide.

The following link provides additional linking resources:

Try using Custom Shows for this. Go to Slide Show --> Custom Show and set up
a custom show containing the slide or slides to run when you jump. Set up
one show for each of the subsets of information. Then, set the hyperlinks to
those shows instead of the individual slides. When you link to a custom
show, you will be able to set the link to "Show and Return". This option
should do just what you want....

Let us know if you need help setting up the shows.

Dual monitors allows you to have more options. For instance, PowerShow allows
you to use the Slide Sorter view (select "View" | "Slide Sorter" menu item)
for navigating through the slide show. When you click on a slide in a slide
sorter view, it can change the slide on the slide show to that slide. Look at
the following link:

Use slide sorter view to change the slide on slide show

This makes it possible to navigate non-linearly through the slide show.
