Powerpoint fails to open

I am a support tech and have a problem with a IBM T series
laptop running win2k sp3.When PPT is launched the splash
screen flashes for a second and then dissapears.If you
check the running processes in the task manager it shows
ppt running and using all of the processor time.I have R&R
office 2k and even tried to run eraser2000. none of this
has worked.Any suggestions or ideas will be welcomed.

Tom,

After installing SP3 did you upgrade your DirectX version? If not that is
where I would start and then follow it up with any updated video drivers
available for the lappie.

If you haven't done so already, shut the PC down for five minutes, then
reboot.
(I'm sure you have done this already, but I gotta say it. Union Rules.)

Do a file search for *.PCB
There should only be one, or at most one per user on the computer.
Delete or rename it/them all to a different extension.

See if PPT will now wake up
