PowerPoint MS2000 Editing Title Page (Master?)

Hi! I have been given a PowerPoint to modify. The title page is locked and
does not allow for modifications. I believe that means it is a Master Title?
I want to retain the entire slide (including background and images and just
change a few of the words. I went to the View Master function and tried to
update it there. I changed what I think/thought is the Master (the
background appeared the same but it did not show the Title wording and images
shown in the original) and preserved it but still I see no changes to the
slide. I have also tried to cut and paste the slide into a new presentation
to no avail. If anyone could help soon that would be good as it is due
today.Thank you in advance.
