PowerPoint Overloads Memory

I

Ivo R. Wanderley

I am trying to run PowerPoint XP on a Toshiba Satellite Notebook but it
freezes the computer frequently, mainly when I try to create or edit a slide
background. With ctrl+alt+del I see that PowerPoint is occupying 99% of
available memory and, for this reason, the computer freezes. To leave the
situation I have to select the PowerPoint process and end it. Has somebody
faced a similar problem or know the solution? Thank you very much.

I have the same problem when I am printing slides that have certain
animations (using images that dissolve in).

Try the following steps:

1. Clean out your Temp folder.
2. Delete everything in your Recycle Bin
3. Run Defrag to defragment your hard drive.

Does that help?

Dear Sonia,

The problem seems to be more serious than a lack of space to PowerPoint
allocate its processes temporarily. I have tryed PowerPoint 2003 early and
the problem was worse. Each time PPT2003 was run it modified the display
resolution to a very poor level like 8 bit. It is very frustrating to face
this kind of problem and feel impotent to solve it. I thank you anyway for
your consideration and efforts in trying to help me.

Sincerely,

Ivo
