Powerpoint scales inserted spreadsheet

This is strange. I have a user who is using a laptop. New build. Latests
SP and drivers. WIN XP SP 2, Office 2003 SP2+.

When he goes to show more columns of a pasted spreadsheet, the object does
three things:

1) It refocuses the object within the original window to reveal the new
column to the right, but now hides the ones to the left.
2) When I go to rescale the object to reveal the column, it springs back to
the orginal object size.
3) When I go to expand the column selection, the whole thing zooms larger.

Any ideas.
